Can I sod my yard in winter?

Yes! You can purchase and lay sod at any time of the year. Dormant sod roots grow more slowly, but as soon as the temperatures warm up the grass will take off.

What species of sod do you sell?

Currently, we carry Palisades Zoysia, Classic St. Augustine, Centipede, Tif Tuf Bermuda, and Emerald Zoysia.

It’s supposed to rain the week of my sod delivery. Will the delivery still happen on time?

ln the case of inclement weather, the farm may be “rained out” which means the sod is too wet to harvest. When this happens, we will get your sod cut as soon as possible and complete the delivery. Expect delays during rainy periods, we will do our best to contact you with updates. ln some cases, we may get the sod cut prior and still make the delivery.

Do I need a soil test?

Yes! We recommend yearly soil tests and believe the best lawns start with healthy soil. Woerner Landscape source offers our SoilKit to make this process quick and easy.

When should I fertilize my new lawn?

Our sod comes in fertilized from the farm so you should be fine during the establishment phase. ln general, it is good practice to fertilize four times a year: in spring, summer, early fall, and mid-September. Remember never to fertilize before heavy rains, as fertilizer can leach into the water system and deplete the soil of nutrients needed for the sod’s root system

How often should I water my lawn?

Different varieties of turfgrass require different amounts of water, and the amount depends on many factors. Some things to look for before watering include if the grass has a dull, bluish-gray color; if footprints remain in the grass; and if leaf blades are folded in half. Overwatering can cause an increase in disease and pest populations in your turfgrass, as well as lead to a shallow root system.

What time of day should I water my lawn?

It is always best to water early in the day.
