Woerner Turf 4-way Kentucky Bluegrass Blend

A unique blend containing 4 of the highest quality Kentucky Bluegrasses available.  By blending these quality bluegrasses we have created a superior sod well suited for our region and climate.  This unique blend offers good drought tolerance, disease resistance, and an eye appealing dark green color.  Our aggressive varieties produce high levels of rhizomes yielding excellent recovery from wear and tear, making it the sod of choice for residential applications as well as golf courses, and sports fields.

4- way blend consists of the following Kentucky Bluegrasses:
  • Moonlight Kentucky Bluegrass (25%) - One of a kind dark blue-green color. Good salt, drought and shade tolerance.
  • Midnight Star Kentucky Bluegrass (25%) - Extrememly dark green color. Derived from famous Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass.
  • Orfeo Kentucky Bluegrass (25%) - Ideal for sports turf and high traffic areas. Germinates and establishes more rapidly. Aggressive type of Bluegrass.
  • Boutique Kentucky Bluegrass (25%) - Elite, category one Kentucky Bluegrass. High Quality. Resistant to many common turf diseases.

Woerner Turf 4-way Kentucky Bluegrass Characteristics:

  • Growth Habit :
    • Low, spreading growth habit
    • Very Aggressive
    • Dark Green Color
    • Very uniform and dense
    • Performs well in a wide range of well-drained soils
  • Performance:
    • Very good summer and fall density
    • Very good performance at cutting heights at or above 1"
    • Excellent overall disease resistance, including leaf spot, rust and powdery mildew
    • Good performance in areas of salinity
  • Establishment and Maintenance:
    • For best performance, fertilize at annual rate of 3-4 lbs N/1000 sq.ft.
    • Deep, infrequent irrigation during cooler months / Lighter, more frequent during summer
    • Recommended mowing heights 1" to 2.5"

 

Woerner Turf 90/10 Fescue Blend

The most drought resistant sod available, our 90/10 Fescue is a lower cost alternative to the famous RTF and Reveille grasses.  Once established, Fescue is proven to require less water due to its ability to grow an extensive, deep root system tapping into deeper water sources.  The addition of newer Fescue and Texas Hybrid varieties means that 90/10 Fescue can produce rhizomes and a large number of tillers, giving it the ability to spread and “fill in” similar to bluegrass.  This mix forms a superior drought turf with improved spreading capabilities.

90/10 Fescue consists of the following varieties:

  • Tar-hell II Turf-Type Tall Fescue (30%) :
    • Outstanding turf quality
    • Excellent salt tolerance
  • Regiment II Turf Type Tall Fescue (30%):
    • Newer dwarf, very dark green
    • High percentage of plants with rhizomes
    • Early spring green up
  • Blade Runner Tall Fescue (30%):
    • Well adapted to hot summers, lower fertility soils
    • Produces rhizomes and large numbers of tillers
    • Excellent heat tolerance and heat resistance
  • Bandera Texas Hybrid Bluegrass (10%):
    • Maintains excellent turf uniformity
    • Second Generation Hybrid
    • Improved color and texture over Thermal Blue

Woerner Turd 90/10 Fescue Characteristics:

  • Growth Habit:
    • Medium blade width, low growing habit
    • Very dark green color
    • Very uniform and dense
  • Performance:
    • Very Salt Tolerant
    • Performs well in full sun to moderate shade
    • Very deep rooted for good heat and drought tolerance
    • Significant rhizome development, competitive against weed invasion
    • Excellent resistance to brown spot
  • Establishment and Maintenance:
    • For best performance, fertilize at annual rate of 2-3 lbs N/1000 sq.ft.
    • Best maintained with deep, infrequent irrigation to promote a deep, healthy root system
    • Recommended mowing height: 1.5" to 3"
    • Well suited where reduced mowing and lower nitrogen use are high priorities
